Prolog

“Hey, Dad!” Lily Skousimire said to her dad. They where on a cruise to New Zealand! Her and her dad had so much fun the last couple of days! The ship was called, “The S.S. Treebor!”

“Hey, munchkin!” her dad said back. Her dad’s name was Dave Skousimire and he is a vulcanologist! Lily is 12 years old and had just com from the spa! Her dad was really rich and she liked it that way!

All of the sudden there was a big crash!

“AHHH!!!!” I very, very, very loud voice said.

A man came up to us and said that we had a shipwreck! And then there was a fire! The man gave us a lifeboat and Lily and her dad got into and darted away across the sea!

“DAD! I am so scared! Look at the waves! The could kill us!” Lily cried!

“Don’t worry, Lily. We will be ok,” her dad said as he rowed the boat.

Soon Lily was asleep and when she woke up they wear on land and her dad was right next to her sleeping! She looked up and there was a volcano! She walked a little bit closer to it and watched it! There was nothing coming out of it! That’s good, Lily thought.  By the look of it, it looked like it hadn’t erupted for a long time!

She then woke her dad up and showed her dad what she had found!

“Well, good thing I know what we are dealing with, but, Lily, we have nothing to worry about!” her dad said.

“But, dad! We are stranded on a island in the middle of no where!” Lily cried!

“I know sweetheart but we will find away out of here, we will,” her dad said back.

        1 3 years later          

Lily woke up that morning with the smell of whale being cooked in spices her dad had found in the wild the night before. She and her dad had been walking along the beach and found a dead whale on the side on the beach that had been washed up and forgotten and had died. It had been 3 years since that horrible day when they had shipwrecked. Lily still remembered it very clearly. Too clearly.

 She had bad dreams about it all the time.

“Hey, dad. Have a good sleep?” Lily asked.

“Yep, you?” dad asked.

“I did have another bad dream last night,” Lily said with a sigh.

“I’m sorry. I stayed up really late last night trying to think of a way to get us out of here but nothing came to me.”

“I know you’ll think of something,” Lily said to lift her dad’s spirits.

“Thanks, but I don’t know,”

Her dad sighed along with Lily.

“Here have some breakfast,” Dad said.

“I am getting really tired of whale,” Lily said.

“I know, but that’s all we have. I mean I am too but we have to eat something,”

“I know,”

Lily sat down and ate what her dad gave her. They didn’t have any plates so they ate with their hands. Luckily for them there was a stream near by and then could go and drink and bath in the water. Lily also had some friends around. Lucky the squirrel and Beethoven the wild dog. Beethoven was nice to her but the other dogs weren’t. Beethoven kept Lily safe and she liked that!

After they ate Lily took the bucket her dad had made from bark and went to the stream and filled it up. Then she took a big drink and then she un-dressed and took a nice long back in the water. Soon she got out and got back dressed and headed back to her father.

Her dad wasn’t there.

Probably went fishing. Lily thought. She walked out to the beach and found her father in the water swimming in his clothes!

“Dad, what are you doing?!” Lily yelled!

“Having fun! Want to join me?”

“Sure!”

Lily rushed into the water not bothering to remember that she had just taken a bath and she would have to take another one. She swam out to her father and grabbed around his neck. They both laughed very hard and her dad swam her around until Lily’s arms felt like they would fall off.

Her father swam her to shore and they laughed and laughed! They laughed until sunset and then sat there and watched the sun go down.

“It is very beautiful,” her dad said.

“I know! Sometimes when I see things like this I want to stay here forever!” Lily said.

Lily had forgotten about her dad being rich and just focused about right now. She loved seeing the sun set and come back up again the next morning! Her father and her and watched it set and rise from the last year now!

“I know mom would have loved to see this,” Lily said.

“Yes, I know she would,” her dad answered back.

Lily’s mom and died when she was giving birth to Lily. Lily never got to even see her face even when we was born. It was a sad moment from them right there on the beach but then her dad told her the most funniest story!Then they laughed and laughed for a long time!

That night then went to bed in their wet clothes still laughing. It took both of them a long time to get to sleep. But that night Lily didn’t have bad dreams she dad great dreams! Of her mother who she had never seen before.

That morning she woke up and saw that her dad was still asleep so she got up and went out to the beach. It was so beautiful! The sun was about to rise! She really liked it because the sun would shine on the ocean and it made it so pretty to watch!

Then she heard something in the bushes behind her. She turned and saw that it was her dad!

“Oh, thank goodness,” Lily said.

“Scare you?”

“Kind of,”

“Isn’t it beautiful?” Lily asked, “I wish mom was here.”

“Yes, it is beautiful and mom is here! In here spirit!”

They hugged each other for a long time and cried because they each misted the momma and the wife.

“Come on,” Lily’s dad said wiping his eyes, “Let’s go eat.”

Lily nodded and they walked back to go and eat. Lily saw that her dad had already cooked some whale. They ate and ate and then Lily’s dad said, “I am going to go take a bath.”

“Ok,” Lily answered, “After you I need one, too.”

Her dad smiled and then walked off. Lily found the water bucket and took a long deep drink from it. Then she headed back to the ocean! She dived it thinking that if she was going to take a bath she might as well get dirty.

She swam and swam for a long time. She went under water and looked at everything underneath! It was so beautiful! Then something bumped against her side! She swam up to get a breath and it was Beethoven! He had come to swim with her!

They had a fun time together and then Lily heard her father’s voice. She swam to shore and she dad said, “Time for you to take a bath.”

“Thanks, dad” Lily answered as she walled to the stream to take her last bath.

When she woke up the next morning she had a big surprise! She got up and walked because she smelled fish! And sure enough there was her dad, cooking fish!

“Thanks, dad! I have been dieing for fish,” Lily said.

“Your welcome! I was, too! But I got to catch some fish this morning!” dad said, “Hungry?”

“Yes, very!”

After a couple minutes of preparing the food Lily’s dad sniffed at the fish. And then all of the sudden, there was a big boom and Lily could here a rockslide from where the volcano was!

“Oh, no” Lily said under her breath. Because she new that when something like that meant…..

“Lily, we have to get out of here. She is going to blow,”

“Dad, how long do we have?” Lily asked very quickly.

“About 2 days and maybe less. But if we don’t get off of this island……….”

Here dad didn’t finish the sentence. Lily was scared, real scared.

“Don’t worry, honey. I know we will get off of here,” her dad said.

Lily came and hugged her dad and she sobbed and sobbed for about 15 minutes. And then there was another big boom and she screamed.

Her dad rubbed her head saying “don’t worry, don’t worry, don’t worry” over and over again. Lily let go of here dad.

“Come on, Lily. We need a raft. If I remember right I think we went north the whole time we were on that lifeboat. If we make a raft then we can sail north and then follow the cruise’s direction. And I think that will take us home,” dad said.

“What if you are wrong?” Lily asked.

“Well………it is worth a try,” dad said.

Lily nodded and went with her dad to try and make a raft.
